China Will Not Remain Silent, If India Stops Pakistan’s Water: Chinese Analyst

Beijing: China will remain committed to its iron-clad friendship with Pakistan and will not allow any violation of Pakistan’s right to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the peaceful use of water.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an interview with an Indian news channel, Chinese senior analyst Professor Victor Gao emphasized the importance of peaceful methods for allocating waters between countries sharing regional rivers. Gao highlighted the need for cooperation and mutual respect in managing water resources, especially in a region where water is a critical issue.

Professor Gao referred to India’s actions concerning water distribution with Pakistan as “water aggression.” He warned against such measures by invoking the principle of treating others as one wishes to be treated: “Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you.”

He also explained the geographical positioning of the countries involved. India, being midstream, and China, positioned upstream, make it inappropriate for India to interfere with the shared waters. Gao’s remarks underscore China’s stance on maintaining regional stability and respecting each nation’s rights to natural resources.
