Muzaffargarh: In an effort to enhance cultural and tourism development in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the 9th Thal Desert Rally, which will take place across the districts of Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, and Layyah in South Punjab. As part of her initiative to promote automobile tourism, she extended her best wishes and prayers to all the participants of the rally.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed the relevant authorities to ensure optimal arrangements for both participants and fans of the 9th TDCP Thal Desert Rally. She emphasized the importance of district administration and police support, particularly welcoming the inclusion of women drivers in the event. She stated that the province is committed to providing equal entertainment opportunities to all its citizens.
The Chief Minister underscored the significance of events like the automobile tourism rally, noting their potential to offer youth platforms to showcase their talents. She highlighted the role such events play in projecting a positive image of Pakistan globally.
During a briefing, it was detailed that registration, tagging, inspection, and medical examinations for race participants will take place at Chhanga Manga Dunes in Kot Addu. The rally will include a qualifying round, royal riding demonstrations, and traditional sports such as kabaddi, javelin throw, and Jhumar dancing.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the stock category race is scheduled for November 9 at Kot Addu, Chobara, alongside javelin and kabaddi competitions in Layyah. Entertainment will also be provided through a cultural night and fireworks display.
On November 10, a jeep race for women drivers, as well as dirt bike and quad bike races, will be held in Kot Addu and Chobara. The prize distribution ceremony for the 9th Thal Desert Rally winners is set to take place at Faisal Stadium in Muzaffargarh.
