Karachi, June 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah rejected the allegation of pressure on PTI local chairmen and said that their displeasure is with their leadership, 30/40 members of PTI refused to participate in the voting, after which the difference between the votes of PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami has increased. Hafiz Naeem has mentally elected himself mayor and morally the mayor should belong to People’s Party. In the cyclone situation, CM Sindh himself has issued directives and the Navy, Army, Rangers and district administration are on board. He said this while talking to the media in the Sindh Assembly along with Provincial Minister Gianchand Esrani. Minister talking to journalists said that 80% peoples of coastal belt have been shifted and those who are in the camp have been provided with facilities.
He said that most of the billboards in Karachi have been taken down and as a precautionary measure, all major construction works in Karachi have also been stopped. he added that there is no danger of cloudburst in Cyclone Karachi and caution boards have been installed at development sites and people should follow the SOPs of the administration. He said that the citizens of Karachi are requested not to go towards the sea. Nasir Shah talking about mayorship said that Hafiz Naeem has mentally elected become the mayor, Jamaat-e-Islami is not the single largest party, morally he should be our mayor. He said that we have offered the post of deputy mayor to Jamaat-e-Islami, we want to take everyone together for the betterment and development of Karachi.
He added that most of the PTI members have disagreed with the decision of their leadership, 30 members are not voting, that is our majority. Nasir Shah said that after the events of May 9, the central leadership has left the Khan Sahib, these are the UC chairmen, if we had to put pressure, we would have been taking votes for ourselves, but they don’t want to vote themselves. He said that if Hafiz Naeem wins, we will welcome him and garland him, MPs who do not have cases can come to the meeting, but peaceful people should not be afraid. Nasir Shah said that we will ensure the attendance of PTI city councillors who are in jail. reply the question about the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, he said that we have not banned the opposition leader, he is not coming on his own and the decision of the opposition leader will be decided by the opposition parties.
