Collective Efforts Essential for Strengthening Democracy, Says Acting President

Islamabad: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani hosted a luncheon at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, in honor of Senators from various political parties. The gathering served as a platform to discuss the overall political situation both within the country and on the international front, as well as to evaluate the ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts in flood-affected regions.

According to Radio Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani underscored the importance of political engagement and cooperative dialogue among parliamentary representatives. He asserted that inclusive dialogue and collective efforts are vital for strengthening democracy and ensuring the well-being of the populace. The Acting President’s remarks emphasized the need for unity and collaboration amidst the challenges facing the nation.

During the luncheon, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry engaged with the participants on issues pertinent to their respective ministries. The meeting facilitated an exchange of views on legislative and governance matters that are crucial for the country’s progress.

The event was attended by several prominent political figures, including the Parliamentary Leader of Pakistan People’s Party in the Senate, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Parliamentary Leader of Balochistan Awami Party in the Senate. Other notable attendees included Senator Ata-ur-Rahman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Senator Ali Zafar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Senator Hidayatullah of Awami National Party, and Senator Amir Chishti of Muttahida Qaumi Movement. These leaders represented a broad spectrum of political ideologies, reflecting the diverse political landscape of the country.
