COMSATS Institute of Information Technology holds 51st convocation

Islamabad, April 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) held its 51st convocation at Convention Centre, and awarded graduate and post-graduate degrees to more than five hundred successful students.

. Dr. Sania Nishtar, Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Minister of Information Technology, Minister of Education and Training and Chancellor CIIT was the Chief Gueston the occasion, awarded degrees and medals to successful students. She addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of CIIT faculty, Management and visionary leadership. She said that CIIT, recognizing its duties, is committed to provide the best opportunities for learning and personal development within a caring and supportive environment.

. Rector CIIT Dr. S.M. Junaid Zaidi (SI) addressed the gathering and said that knowledge acquirement and higher education are transforming virtually every aspect of today’s world. IT institutions have been trusted to be the centre stage of academia. These Institutions have the mandate to evolve a knowledge based socioeconomic culture in the country to help the nation to face the modern challenges of Globalization.

Incharge Islamabad Campus Dr Shahid Ahmed Khan presented campus report stating that 48 members of CIIT have been honored with research productivity awards this year by (MoST), Pro Rector Dr Haroon Rashid was awarded with Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Dr, Jamshed Iqbal and Dr Sonia Zulfiqar were awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Mrs Aqeela Asif Assisitant Professor department od Humanities has been awarded Gold Medal (Sir Syed) by Nazria-e-Pakistan Council 2013, he added.

There were more than 550 students, who secured BS degrees in disciplines of Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics, Biosciences, Business Administration, Electrical (Telecommunication and Computer Engineering), Electronics, Mathematics and Architecture from Islamabad Campus.

PhD degrees were awarded to 05 students in disciplines of Physics, 08 in Mathematics, 01 in Bio Sciences and 02 in Management Sciences. On the occasion Chancellor’s, Institute and Campus Medals were also awarded to position holding students from Islamabad campus of CIIT. Graduate and post graduate students bagged Campus medals, Institute medals and Chancellor’s Gold medals with highest 3.3- 3.89 CGPA in their respective disciplines.
