Confiscated property owned by commander’s wife: Family

Srinagar, June 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the family of a prominent freedom fighter Aamir Khan, whose property was sealed in Pahalgam by the puppet authorities, has said the immovable property belongs to his wife.

On directives of New Delhi, the local authorities sealed Khan’s 9 kanal paddy land in Liver village of Sallar area in Pahalgam. The family said that Amir Khan was outside the territory and the sealed land is owned by his wife.

“The paddy land was sealed on the pretext that it belongs to Khan. But the fact is that this property belongs to his wife,” his family said.

His 17-year son Abdul Hamid, a class 11th student was picked up by the Indian Army in 1997 from Higher Secondary School at Srigufwara and later was killed in custody, the family said.

Meanwhile, the sealing of s property continued to evoke sharp reaction from pro-freedom leaders, who strongly condemned the act.

The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) strongly condemned the act. In a statement, a JKLF spokesman said the act of “depriving children, women and elderly of the right to life and living is undemocratic, inhuman and tyrannical.”

Senior Hurriyet leader and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah termed it as “state reprisal.” “Such tactics won’t break our resolve to fight for freedom,” he said.

MLA Langate and Awami Ittihad Party President (AIP) Er Abdur Rasheed lambasted the move and said “such harsh steps won’t bear any fruit.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dr Raja Muzaffar Butt termed the action as unconstitutional and unwarranted.
