Consultations on Constitutional Package Underway: Information Minister Discusses Process

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced today that discussions are ongoing with various political parties to reach a consensus on constitutional amendments, which include the establishment of constitutional courts separate from the Supreme Court to alleviate its workload.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, while addressing the media this afternoon, highlighted that the separation of constitutional courts is a common practice in numerous countries. This initiative aims to expedite the resolution of constitutional matters and other cases, ensuring they are handled more efficiently.

The Minister revealed that Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has drafted the proposed amendments and is currently engaging in extensive consultations with political parties to forge an agreement. He emphasized the importance of these amendments for the integrity of Pakistan and its Constitution.

Furthermore, the Minister called on the opposition parties to avoid creating uncertainty and engaging in speculative discussions about the amendments, underlining that these efforts are crucial for the nation’s legislative clarity and governance.
