CRPF gives clean chit to its men in Zainkot killing incident

Srinagar, January 04, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, appointing killer to probe murder is a travesty of justice, which can be seen as in the statement regarding the killing of a youth at Zainakote in Srinagar, in which the Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force has given a clean chit to its personnel. The CRPF Deputy Inspector General Srinagar, S K Parth said that the paramilitary force had submitted its reply to the inquiry officer probing the killing of a youth at Zainakote in Srinagar outskirts.

Parth told reporters in Srinagar that the CRPF did not know what happened on the spot and it did not fire bullets on protesters. “Had we fired any bullet, police would have said it or civilians would have seen who fired the bullet. We don’t understand what happened on the spot. We have strict directions not to fire bullets on protesters,” he said.

The CRPF officer said that he doubts that the youth was injured due to the bullet or teargas shells. Gowhar Ahmad Dar, 21, an engineering student in Pattan, was killed on November 7 last year soon after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had left Srinagar after addressing a rally.

“CRPF men fired at my son from point blank range. He was killed by a live bullet fired by CRPF which doctors at SKIMS also confirmed to us. He was not killed by any teargas shell as police and CRPF have claimed,” Nazir Ahmad Dar father of Gowhar Ahmad Dar of Zainakote had said.
