CRPF Head Constable Dies by Suicide in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

Bijapur: A head constable with India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died by suicide in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The incident occurred at the CRPF headquarters in Bhairamgarh where the officer used his service weapon.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Pavan Kumar, the head constable, shot himself with his AK-47 rifle while on duty in a watch tower. His colleagues, alerted by the gunshots, discovered him and transported him to a local community health center. There, he was pronounced dead by attending medical staff.

This tragic event underscores the challenges faced by security personnel in conflict zones. Kumar’s motivations remain unclear, and the incident has prompted discussions regarding the mental health support available to CRPF personnel.
