CRPF Officer’s Death by Suicide Highlights Grim Trend in Srinagar

Srinagar: A member of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died by suicide using his service rifle in Srinagar, located in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident adds to a growing list of self-inflicted deaths among security personnel in the area.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the CRPF officer was stationed with the 116 Battalion in Srinagar when he took his life. The authorities have confirmed the occurrence and initiated an investigation to determine the cause behind the officer’s decision.

This incident marks the 618th case of suicide among Indian security forces and police within the region since January 1, 2007.

In a separate incident, a policeman named Mohammad Ayoub Lone, hailing from Natipora, succumbed to a cardiac arrest in the Nowgam area of Srinagar.
