Death Anniversary of Nigar Ahmed Observed

Lahore: The ninth death anniversary of Pakistani women’s rights activist Nigar Ahmed was observed on Tuesday. She was one of the first feminists in Pakistan and was known for founding the Aurat Foundation in Lahore in 1985.

According to Radio Pakistan, Nigar Ahmed was a recipient of many national awards for her work. She was instrumental in ensuring female empowerment by encouraging women to play political roles in local bodies. Nigar Ahmed passed away on this day in 2017.
