Death Anniversary of Poet Ahmad Rahi Observed in Lahore

Lahore: The twenty-third death anniversary of renowned poet and writer Ahmad Rahi was observed on Tuesday. Ahmad Rahi, born in Amritsar in 1923, made significant contributions to the literary and film industry of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad Rahi was famous for his charismatic film poetry. He wrote songs for more than a hundred movies, with the songs of the Pakistani Punjabi film “Heer Ranjha” earning him national acclaim. His notable collection of Punjabi poetry, “Taranjan,” won the prestigious Adamji award, highlighting his influence and mastery in the field.

In recognition of his contributions to art and literature, Ahmad Rahi was awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan. He passed away on this day in Lahore in 2002, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire poets and writers across the nation.
