Death Anniversary of Renowned Punjabi Poet Waris Ludhianvi Commemorated

Lahore: Thirty-fourth death anniversary of famous Punjabi film lyricist and poet Waris Ludhianvi is being observed today. He was born on April 11 in 1928 and his real name was Chaudhary Mohammad Ismael.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ludhianvi wrote his first song for the film “Shehri Babu” in 1953, which became a super hit. Throughout his career, he penned numerous acclaimed songs, but a wedding song from the film “Kartar Singh” became particularly iconic. The song “Desan Da Raja, Meray Babul Da Pyara” achieved widespread recognition and became a part of Punjabi folk culture.

Waris Ludhianvi passed away on this day in 1992 in Lahore, leaving behind a legacy of memorable contributions to Punjabi cinema and music.
