Death Anniversary of Writer Majnun Gorakhpuri Observed

Karachi: The 37th death anniversary of the renowned Urdu critic, translator, and short story writer Majnun Gorakhpuri was observed on Wednesday. Majnun Gorakhpuri, whose real name was Ahmed Siddique, was born on May 10, 1904, in Gorakhpur and made significant contributions to Urdu literature throughout his life.

According to Radio Pakistan, Majnun Gorakhpuri was associated with prestigious institutions such as Aligarh Muslim University and Karachi University, where he served as a teacher. His body of work includes critical books such as “Impressions and Thoughts,” “Nakta Majnu,” “Critical Margins,” “History of Aesthetics,” “Literature and Life,” “Dominant Person and Poet,” and “Poetry and Ghazal and Ghazal Sara.”

Majnun Gorakhpuri passed away on this day in 1988 in Karachi, leaving behind a legacy of literary contributions that continue to influence Urdu literature.
