Srinagar, September 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, heavy rains and flash floods have snapped Kashmir Valley’s telecommunication links with the rest of the world. Floods in the Kashmir valley have left over Srinagar floods 175 dead besides causing huge damage to infrastructure.
Desperate residents are huddled on rooftops as they try to survive Kashmir’s worst flooding in half a century which has already claimed more than 175 lives and left thousands homeless. However, officials say the death toll is bound to rise.
Mobile, landline and Internet services in Kashmir Valley were snapped last night due to huge damage caused to the telecommunication infrastructure by flooding in Jhelum river.
With all phone lines down in the main city of Srinagar and roads cut off, the exact scale of the disaster is still unclear. Residents could be seen waving from rooftops while vehicles and livestock were washed away by the flood waters.
