Debris Removal and Reopening of Karakoram Highway in Rain-Affected Gilgit Baltistan

Islamabad: The process of removing debris and reopening the Karakoram Highway, impacted by recent torrential rains and cloudbursts, is actively underway. This effort involves the coordinated work of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Works Organization, National Highway Authority, and local administration.

According to Radio Pakistan, significant progress has been made in clearing several points from Thalichi to Chilas, alongside the restoration of traffic on the Jaglot-Skardu road. Efforts are ongoing to clear roads in Tatta Pani and Jalipur, with rehabilitation activities continuing in Passu village.

In addition, heavy machinery has been dispatched to reopen three blocked points at Gandola Nullah, underscoring the commitment to restoring connectivity in the region.
