Defence Minister calls for policy of non-aggression and peaceful co-existence with neighbours

Islamabad, May 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): On the second day of the BLACK SEA DEFENCE AND AREO SPACE CONFERENCE 2014, Minister for Defence production held important meetings with the State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning, Mr. Valeriu Nicut and LT GEN STEFAN DANILA, Chief of General Staff at the Ministry of National Defence Romania.

The Minister in his remarks said that there is a need of identifying to be potential market areas to further explore fields of defence production. Keeping in view the current international security environment each country needs to fulfill their security needs, he added.

Though the region Romania is and the region Pakistan is faced with challenges from the neighboring countries Pakistan believes in the policy of peaceful co-existence and non interference when it comes to Afghanistan or any other country.

Romanian State Secretary for Defence added that Pakistan has gone ahead in the field of defence production over the years and we hope that we can utilize the advancements by striking opportunities for joint production and ventures.

He also commended the technical expertise of the people of Pakistan and said that Pakistanis are talented people and we would like to utilize the area of research and development to further explore areas of advancements.

Pakistan also stressed that NATO standards are being met at the defence production industries and equipment is made accordingly, which was highly appreciated by the Romanian armed forces officials.

Later in a meeting with Mrs Carmen Lilina Burlacu STATE SECRETARY FOR GLOBAL AFFAIRS AT MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, Minister said that Pakistan and Romania can look to further increase cooperation in trade areas other than defence production which will help strengthen our relationship with Romania.
