Defence Secretary Visits Coastal Areas

Karachi: Secretary of Defence Nargis Sethi paid a two day visit to Naval Base at Gwadar and Jinnah Naval base at Ormara . Rear Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, Commander Coast accompanied the Secretary Defence during her visit.

The Secretary was briefed on the operational aspects of both bases which act as forward surveillance stations along Makran Coast. The role of Jinnah Base as secondary base for Pakistan Navy Fleet was also emphasized. The Secretary visited PN ship PNS Zulfiqar and took a sea trip onboard PNS Jurrat at Ormara.

Beside operational briefing, the Secretary also visited the naval hospital PNS Darmaan Jah, Bahria School at Ormara and welfare centres at both Naval Stations aimed at the community welfare of the people of Balochistan particularly the maritime community living along the coastal belt.

During her visit to various community welfare projects, she lauded the role of Pakistan Navy and reiterated the need to further expand these facilities to Pasni, Jiwani and Turbat, where Pakistan Navy has a sizable presence.

During her stay at Ormara, she was also briefed about the future project of Pakistan Navy Cadet College Ormara and the ongoing work at Bahria College Ormara. The educational institutions would make the education facility available for 1000 students of Ormara, which is in line with the present government’s policy of providing quality education to the youth of Balochistan.

The Defence Secretary assured Commander Coast of all possible support for timely culmination of ongoing educational, health and welfare projects.
