Deputy Chairman Senate Senator Saleem Mandviwala has said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan need to extend its strong political and military relationship

Islamabad, September 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): Deputy Chairman Senate Senator Saleem Mandviwala has said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan need to extend its strong political and military relationship to an even stronger economic cooperation and enhance the trade volume between the two countries. He made these remarks in a meeting with Ambassador of Azerbaijan Mr. Ali Alizada who called on the Deputy Chairman Senate here at the Parliament House in his chamber.

Deputy Chairman Senate also called upon having more frequent and result oriented interactions between the Parliaments of both countries with delegations coming in from both sides. He observed that the interactions should be aimed not only at learning from each other’s practices but also to explore opportunities for enhanced trade cooperation and investment opportunities in both countries by encouraging industrialists and businessmen to invest in the other country.

The Ambassador remarked that there are a lot of similarities between the two countries and its peoples and both houses of the Parliament have always supported Azerbaijan. He said that Azerbaijan has always supported Pakistan on Kashmir issue and has called upon the resolution of the issue according to UNGA resolutions. He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for supporting Azerbaijan in the controversial Armenian occupation of Azerbaijanian territory.

Deputy Chairman extended an invitation to the Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament to visit the Senate of Pakistan and expressed hope for a more constructive relationship between the both Parliaments. He expressed hope that people to people contacts will grow in future and tourism opportunities and prospects of having direct flights will be explored.
