Info Minister lauds UN Review Mission to ensure transparency in Pakistan’s elections

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has commended the cooperation of international institutions including the United Nations Review Mission to ensure transparency in elections and strengthening electoral process in Pakistan.

He was talking to a delegation of the United Nations Review Mission for Electoral Requirements, which called on him in Islamabad today.

Provision of technical support to the Election Commission of Pakistan through UNDP Election Support Program, fake news, misinformation, disinformation and other important issues came under discussion.

The Minister informed the delegation that election campaigns in Pakistan have changed now during the current digital era. He said the boom of social media has also given a new shape to political activities. He said the issue of fake news, misinformation and disinformation are the problems for the entire world.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan is working on the digital front as per the requirements of the current era.

At
taullah Tarar also apprised the United Nations Review Mission for Electoral Requirements about issues related to his constituency.

On the occasion, the Mission appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s steps to improve the credibility of the electoral process.
