DFP Criticizes Modi’s Kashmir Visit as Misleading Facade

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to mislead the international community during his visit to the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They assert that the visit is a facade, masking the ongoing repression in the region.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal has criticized the Modi administration for projecting a false narrative of development in the region while maintaining repressive measures. He argues that the Indian government is simultaneously suppressing aspirations for freedom and justice and promoting a misleading development agenda to reinforce military control over the territory.

The DFP spokesperson questioned the authenticity of India’s development claims, citing ongoing human rights violations. These include restrictions on freedom of movement and speech and the confiscation of properties based on alleged charges. Iqbal noted that increased restrictions and security measures during Modi’s visit highlight the disparity between India’s claims of normalcy and the actual situation on the ground.

Advocate Iqbal further condemned India’s actions as violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions, which advocate for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He emphasized that India prioritizes strategic interests over democratic values and the welfare of the Kashmiri people.

The DFP urged the international community to recognize and challenge India’s disregard for international laws and human rights in Kashmir.

Additionally, Dr. Irfan Khan, spokesperson for the Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), criticized Modi’s visit as another attempt to distort the reality of the situation in Kashmir. Dr. Khan asserted that the Modi regime is dismantling the identity of IIOJK through its actions since August 5, 2019, and that development projects are merely a means to further India’s military objectives rather than benefit the local population.
