Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation lauds role played by Mitsubishi Corporation for promoting Pak-Japan relations

Islamabad, June 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mrs. Samina Parvez Khalid, Director General, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation said Monday that Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan is playing an important role in bringing the people of the two countries together.

This she said while speaking after signing of a contract for rehabilitation of Faqirabad (Lawrencepur) transmitter here today. Mr. Masaharu Domichi, General Manager of International Cooperation Department represented the Mitsubishi Corporation, says a press release received here today from Tokyo.

The Director General said with latest state of the art, Japanese technology, installation of the transmitter, Radio Pakistan’s transmission quality and reach will be enhanced. Its programmes can be clearly listened in Afghanistan including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan.

She thanked the government of Japan for its continued unconditional help and assistance for building infrastructure in Pakistan since last six decades.

It is pertinent to be pointed out here that grant agreement was signed between the Government of Pakistan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) last year.

The cost of the project is JPY1.385 billion. The project envisages the replacement of old medium wave transmitter with two most modern 250KW medium waves transmitters and also revamping of five studios and master control at National Broadcasting House, Islamabad.

The objective is to rehabilitate medium wave services of Radio Pakistan Islamabad. The work on the project will be started very soon and is expected to be completed by August 2014. Economic Minister from the Embassy of Pakistan Tokyo was also present on the occasion.
