DPM Orders Immediate Wheat Supply to Provinces

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has directed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to promptly supply wheat to the provinces according to the approved allocations. He made these directives while chairing a meeting in Islamabad aimed at evaluating the country’s wheat stocks.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of provinces ensuring timely payments and the collection of their allocated wheat supplies. During the meeting, the decision to import up to one million metric tonnes of wheat was reaffirmed, and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan was instructed to commence the import process immediately. In its initial phase, 750,000 metric tonnes will be imported with a delivery timeline set for November.

Ishaq Dar stressed that all relevant institutions must maintain close coordination to guarantee sufficient wheat availability, stable prices, and consumer relief across Pakistan. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation and coordination provided by all provinces, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, and the Ministry of Commerce in addressing issues related to wheat imports, stabilizing prices, and preventing hoarding.
