DPM Pays Tribute to Mountaineers Killed in Broad Peak Avalanche

Gilgit-baltistan: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of ten mountaineers, including the renowned Nirmal Purja, in the avalanche on Broad Peak, Gilgit-Baltistan. In a post on his X handle, he extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the governments and peoples of China, Nepal, Oman, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan also mourns one of its own mountaineers, Sohail Sakhi of Hunza, whose courage and abiding passion for the high mountains will be remembered with pride. He emphasized that the determination and pursuit of excellence shown by all those who perished embodied the true spirit of mountaineering and will continue to inspire generations.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended the tireless efforts of rescue and recovery teams, saying their professionalism under the most demanding high-altitude conditions deserves our deepest appreciation.
