ECC Sanctions Rs 45 Billion for Defense Projects and Approves Funding for Environmental and Health Initiatives

Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a supplementary grant of Rs 45 billion for various defense service projects, signaling a significant financial commitment to enhance national security infrastructure. The approval was given during a session chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECC’s recent meeting also addressed environmental and health needs. It sanctioned Rs 150 million for the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination to support its participation in the upcoming COP-29 conference, scheduled for November 11-22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Additionally, the committee approved a substantial price increase for the Anti-Rabies Vaccine, raising the cost from Rs 891.65 to Rs 1980 per 0.5 milliliter vial. This adjustment by the National Institute of Health Islamabad aims to cover the imported material’s landed cost and ensure adequate production and availability in public sector hospitals.

The ECC also authorized a rate increase for the Special Allowance awarded to the employees of the Anti-Narcotics Force, enhancing their compensation as part of the broader agenda to support critical government sectors.
