ECNEC Approves Development Projects Totaling Rs217 Billion

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has given the green light to seven significant development projects with a combined cost of approximately 217 billion rupees. The approvals, made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, include enhancements to infrastructure and educational endeavors across Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ECNEC sanctioned the expansion of the irrigation component for the Sindh Emergency Flood Rehabilitation Project, as well as revisions to the scope of the CAREC Corridor Road infrastructure projects located in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These projects are expected to bolster the region’s capacity to manage flood risks and improve road connectivity.

Moreover, the committee approved the revised scope of the Karachi Water Supply and Sewerage Improvement Project, which is set to be implemented at a cost of 25.4 billion rupees. This initiative aims to address the city’s critical water supply and sewerage challenges.

Additionally, the World Bank-funded project GRADES, focused on enhancing school attendance and learning outcomes in Punjab, received approval. This project is part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education in the region.
