ECO Ministerial Meeting Concludes in Islamabad

Islamabad: The tenth two-day Ministerial Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization on Disaster Risk Reduction concluded in Islamabad today. The meeting ended with member states reaffirming their commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, disaster resilience, and coordinated action against disasters.

According to Radio Pakistan, these commitments, which are aligned with the Izmir Treaty, ECO Vision 2025, and the Sendai Framework, were incorporated into the Islamabad Declaration 2025. Speaking on the occasion, the NDMA Chairman Lt General Inam Haider Malik stated that the Islamabad Declaration represents a collective resolve to protect the communities of ECO countries from the increasing threats of disasters.

The Chairman emphasized that Pakistan is prepared to share its expertise and advanced capabilities through the National Emergencies Operation Center to bolster ECO’s regional preparedness and resilience.
