Efforts Underway to Reduce Electricity Costs, Says Energy Minister Awais Ahmed Leghari

Islamabad: In a recent interview with a private television channel, Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Leghari announced that the government is actively taking measures to make electricity more affordable for consumers across the nation. He expressed optimism about delivering positive news regarding reduced electricity tariffs in the upcoming months.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Leghari highlighted ongoing discussions with Independent Power Producers as a key strategy for achieving better energy pricing. These talks are part of a broader effort to alleviate the financial burden of high electricity costs on general consumers.

Responding to a question about the current high electricity prices, Leghari attributed these costs to the prevailing high interest rates and the devaluation of local currency. He assured that these issues are being addressed to ensure that consumers will soon benefit from lower electricity prices.

The commitment to providing cost-effective electricity is seen as a crucial step towards economic relief for citizens and is expected to have a significant impact on the overall cost of living.
