New Delhi: In a distressing incident in Medchal, India, an 80-year-old woman was subjected to a gang rape by three individuals. The assault occurred in Bandamadamaram village, targeting the elderly woman who resides alone.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the attackers overpowered the elderly resident and committed the sexual assault before fleeing the scene. The police reported that after regaining consciousness, the victim managed to reach the road where passersby noticed her and promptly alerted the authorities by dialing the emergency service number 100.
Following the incident, the Medchal police have initiated a gang-rape investigation based on the victim’s complaint. The search for the suspects, who are currently absconding, continues actively. The victim has been hospitalized for medical care following the assault.
This event adds to a troubling pattern of increased sexual violence incidents in India, with public and governmental response under scrutiny.
