Emergency funding needed to help coronavirus-hit poorer countries avoid economic collapse: Munir

Islamabad, December 03, 2020 (PPI-OT): At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for providing emergency financing for coronavirus-hit developing countries to enable them to avoid economic collapse.

Speaking at a high level meeting of General Assembly, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Munir Akram also stressed the need for international cooperation at this critical stage.

Ambassador Akram called for ensuring the availability of coronavirus vaccine for all, saying no one will be safe until the virus is controlled globally.

He said unless the poorer countries are helped to control COVID and revive economic growth, the world will be unable to overcome the challenges it confronts.
