Engro Fertilizers and Punjab Government Boost Wheat Cultivation Efforts through Kissan Convention

Bahawalpur: Engro Fertilizers Limited, in partnership with the Agriculture Department of Punjab, organized a Kissan Convention in Bahawalpur to advance the province’s wheat cultivation campaign. The event, a part of the Government of Punjab’s agricultural initiatives, attracted over 600 farmers from the region, aiming to promote innovative farming practices and enhance wheat yields.

The convention was attended by notable figures, including Provincial Minister for Agriculture Punjab, Syed Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani, and Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector through collaborative efforts.

In support of the flood rehabilitation program, Engro Fertilizers distributed high-quality wheat and vegetable seeds to 2,737 flood-affected farmers at no cost. This initiative aims to assist farmers in recovering and ensuring timely sowing for the ongoing Rabi season.

A significant highlight of the event was the inauguration of the “Engro Markaz” outlet at Bahawalpur by the Minister and Secretary Agriculture. This center is designed to facilitate direct farmer engagement and provide agri-advisory services, offering a one-stop platform for technical guidance and capacity building.

Vice President Commercial at Engro Fertilizers, Mr. Atif Mohammad Ali, emphasized the shared goal with the Government of Punjab to equip farmers with necessary tools and expertise. He highlighted initiatives like the Engro Markaz and the distribution of seeds as steps towards empowering farmers for higher productivity and growth.

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Punjab, Syed Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani, reinforced the government’s commitment to food security and improving farmers’ livelihoods through collaborative efforts with the private sector. He acknowledged Engro’s role in promoting balanced fertilizer use and sustainable practices.

Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, stressed the importance of innovation, awareness, and collaboration between the government and private sector for sustainable agricultural growth. He highlighted the government’s initiatives in enhancing farmer education and access to quality inputs.

The convention showcased the strength of public-private partnerships in transforming Pakistan’s agricultural landscape, aiming for a more resilient and productive farming ecosystem.
