Fatal Collision on Chennai-Thiruthani Highway Claims Five Student Lives

Chennai: A severe road accident near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district resulted in the deaths of five college students on Sunday evening, while two others sustained injuries.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a group of seven students was traveling along the Chennai-Thiruthani highway when their vehicle was struck head-on by a truck. The collision led to significant damages and casualties among the students.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated by the Kanagammachathiram Police and emergency teams, who faced challenges in extracting the bodies due to the severe damage to the vehicle. The injured were immediately transported to Thiruvallur Government Hospital for medical attention. The incident also caused a two-hour delay in traffic flow on the highway.

Police have detained the truck driver responsible for the accident. The students, who hailed from Ongole and were attending a private college in Chennai, were identified following the crash.
