Federal Minister Reviews Progress on Seerat Center Lahore Project

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a review meeting on the progress of the Seerat Center Lahore project, focusing on its operational and governance plan.

According to a statement by Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, the minister emphasized that establishing Seerat Chairs in public sector universities aims to provide future generations with modern education, alongside teachings inspired by the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH). The initiative includes three main components: setting up nine Seerat Chairs, launching a center for gender studies and women’s rights, and creating an endowment fund for research.

The research focus will cover nine themes from the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), including leadership, social justice, and gender studies. The Women’s Seerat Center Lahore is envisioned as a hub for gender studies, aiming to reconnect the younger generation with religion through intellectual engagement.

The center will emphasize women’s rights from an Islamic perspective, ensuring that female graduates are well-versed in Islamic teachings and modern disciplines. It will offer postgraduate studies and research, focusing on women’s rights in Islam, and addressing contemporary challenges faced by women.

During the meeting, Minister Iqbal urged authorities to expedite the operationalization of Seerat Centers, recruit faculty, and establish libraries to support academic research.
