Finance Minister vows to work closely with IMF to achieve economic objectives

Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has reaffirmed government’s commitment to work closely with International Monetary Fund to ensure successful completion of the Standby Arrangement and achieve the economic objectives.

She expressed these views while talking to IMF Review Mission led by IMF Mission Chief Nathan Porter in Islamabad today.

The Minister welcomed the delegation and shared progress on the Standby Arrangement. She also briefed the IMF Mission on fiscal measures being taken by the government to improve the economic situation.

The meeting also deliberated upon the comprehensive reforms and measures undertaken by FBR and the government’s strategies to address the circular debt issue.

She also expressed appreciation for the continued support and assistance of the IMF for shared progress on the Standby Arrangement.

In his remarks, the IMF Mission Chief appreciated the Government’s commitment to meeting the first quarter target and commended the government’s efforts and measures taken in some critical areas.

He also underscored the importance of continuation of these efforts for staying on track for economic stability of the country.
