Fire brigade will be equipped with latest equipments: Administrator Karachi

Karachi, February 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui said in order to enable the city fire brigade taking immediate and effective action to quench fire, it will be equipped with latest fire fighting equipments and techniques.

He said this in a meeting with the representatives of multinational fire fighting equipments and machinery manufacturers who called on Administrator Karachi in his office and gave a detailed briefing about the modern fire fighting techniques and the machinery and equipments used in this work. The Senior Director Municipal Services Masood Alam and other officers were also present on this occasion.

The delegation in its briefing to KMC Administrator said that the modern technique for quenching fire based on the usage of foam which was effective in extinguishing all small and big scale fire especially the A Class fire of rubber and tyres which was considered the most dangerous fire.

They further said that fire incident were taking place in Karachi on every second or third day and such incidents required immediate and effective fire fighting action. The small vehicles used in these works had been proved more effective if compared with the big fire tenders due to their swift reach to the fire and easy movement.

These vehicles could be provided to KMC along with other equipments which would improve the performance of fire brigade in Karachi. They said that the vehicles and equipments manufactured by their company were successfully used in Saudi Arabia, UAE and USA and other countries.
