Foreign investment in Pakistan would provide much needed boost to economy and generate employment opportunities: Prime Minister

Islamabad, February 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the foreign investment in Pakistan would provide the much needed boost to its economy and generate employment opportunities. He said this while attending a presentation on mega infrastructure development projects including Gawadar Port, Railways and Energy projects.

PM said that government has prioritized the mega projects in order to put the economy of Pakistan on right track. PM issued directions that timeline should be developed for the prioritized projects and they should be completed accordingly

Prime Minister said that Pakistan has growing strategic relationship with China and Pakistan welcomes new and innovative ideas in the all field. He further said that the investment in ports, railways and energy sector will not only provide necessary impetus to the economy but at the same time generate employment opportunities. PM said that Pakistan has always welcomed Chinese investment which has been a source of further strengthening the ties between the two countries. He further directed that investors should be provided all possible assistance.

Earlier Prime Minister was briefed on these projects. He was told that various Chinese companies have invested in these sectors of economy while others have shown interest.

The meeting was attended by Minister Water and Power Khawaja Asif, Minister Planning Ahsan Iqbal, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatmi and other senior government officials.
