Fresh arrest spree in IOK condemned

Srinagar, January 08, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt has strongly condemned the arrest of student, Umar Rashid Mugloo of Gulzar Pora, Budgam by police during the nocturnal raid.

Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement expressing solidarity with the family said that he was innocent and should be released immediately.

Zafar also condemned the delay in release of Hurriyet leaders including Ayaz Akbar, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Sarjan Barkati, Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf and other hundreds Kashmiri youth.

He also visited Berber Shah and Kawmohalla in Srinagar and condoled the demise of father of Hurriyet activists, Bilal Ahmed Shera, Ashiq Ahmed Sofi, and mother of Yaar Mohammad Khan. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mohammed Iqbal Mir, Mohammed Ahsan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi and Ghulan Nabi war in their joint statement condemned the Indian state terrorism in nook and corner of the territory.

They said that the world community should take strict notice against the massive human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. They said peaceful protest against such inhuman acts is right of the people of Kashmir, adding that they would continue to raise their voice for their democratic rights including the right to self-determination.

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Political Party leader Adnan Salafi addressed a public gathering at Badru in Kulgam asked people to beware of anti-Kashmir conspiracies being hatched by India and its local collaborators. Adnan Salafi said that India and its puppets in Kashmir were trying each and every method to suppress the just and genuine struggle of freedom in Kashmir.
