Ghani Chemworld Ltd. Sets Sights on Calcium Carbide Production

KARACHI: Ghani Chemworld Ltd. (GCWL) provided key insights into its operational and strategic plans during its fiscal year 2025 analyst briefing. The session offered investors a detailed look at the company’s progress following its recent business developments.

Earlier this year, Ghani Chemical Industries Ltd. (GCIL) demerged its calcium carbide business, transferring it to GCWL. This strategic move was executed through the allocation of ordinary shares to GCIL shareholders in April 2024.

GCWL announced the commissioning of a new calcium carbide plant with a production capacity of 25,000 tons per annum. According to company management, the commissioning process has already started. Trial production at the facility is projected to begin by early December 2025.

For over 15 years, the group has been actively involved in the trading of calcium carbide, maintaining a significant presence in the market with an approximate 40% trading share.

These developments underscore GCWL’s commitment to strengthening its position in the calcium carbide sector, leveraging its longstanding market experience.
