Good initiative of Punjab Police to facilitate and guide the hearing impaired citizens

Lahore, June 20, 2023 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that an MoU between Punjab Police and Connect Hear, a non-governmental organization, has been signed to help and guide the hearing-impaired people who come to police offices, police stations, service centers, and protection centers. What has been signed will be a special facility for hearing impaired citizens. IG Punjab said that the trained interpreters and sign language experts of Connect Hear will help in communication with the hearing impaired people coming to the police offices. He expressed these views while talking at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the Punjab Police and the private organization Connect Hear at the Central Police Office today.

According to the details, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Punjab Police and the private organization Connect Hear in a ceremony held at the Central Police Office. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and Connect Hair CEO Azima Dhanji signed the MoU. Under the MoU, Connect Hair will create a personalized admin portal for the Punjab Police in its working system, will provide sign language interpreters for the assistance and convenience of hearing-impaired citizens, these interpreters will be at service centers, police stations, front desks and security. They will assist in coordinating with the special people who come to the centers.

Azima Dhanji said that technical training will also be provided to police officers and personnel to use the Connect Hair application and both to solve the problems of hearing impaired citizens. The institutions will also take further steps together. Obtained registration on Punjab Police Connect Hair application under MoU will provide the e-mails and details of all the employees to Connect Hair while the staff trained from the training workshops, sessions and classes of Connect Hair will be posted in the respective offices. DIG Headquarters Humayun Bashir Tarar, DIG Ahsan Yunus, AIG Admin Amara Athar and other officers were also present on this occasion.
