Government Announces Motorway Linking Kartarpur and Nankana Sahib

Islamabad: The government has unveiled plans to connect Kartarpur and Nankana Sahib with the national motorway network. This initiative was announced by Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan during a meeting in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to begin construction on the Sialkot-Kartarpur Motorway, which is to be named the “Guru Nanak Expressway.” The project aims to enhance infrastructure to accommodate pilgrims, with plans to develop 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels along the highway.

To attract investment from the international Sikh community, the NHA will conduct marketing campaigns in London, Canada, and the United States. Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that these projects would be promoted in international roadshows to secure foreign direct investment.

The expressway is expected to bring socio-economic benefits to nearby towns such as Narang Mandi and Baddomalhi. Additionally, the NHA has been instructed to ensure the construction of modern rest areas and shopping malls along the route.
