Government Launches National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority

Islamabad: The government has announced the creation of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), a new body aimed at enhancing the agricultural sector. This development is facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and marks a significant step forward for the industry.

According to Radio Pakistan, NAFSA has been established by merging the Department of Plant Protection (DPP) and Animal Quarantine, signifying a strategic move towards modernizing agricultural practices to align with global standards. One of the key objectives of NAFSA is to minimize the excessive use of Methyl Bromide, potentially saving up to forty thousand rupees per container.

The initiative aims to foster transparency and innovation in the agriculture sector, with continued support from the SIFC.
