Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa clarifies news regarding sale of Charsadda Paper Mills

Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has termed the news item appeared in sections of press on 7th September regarding sale of Charsadda Paper Mills, by the provincial government as baseless and misleading.

The Industry Department has clarified that the said mill is not the property of the government and there is no question of selling it. It merits to mention here that the Peshawar High Court has liquidated the mill due to default in loan from PICIC in the 90s and the present owner purchased it in open auction under supervision of the court.

After the owner paid the bid money, the Hon’ble Court issued verdict for transfer of land to the present owner. Moreover, the government has no concern with the land and establishment of housing scheme on the land.

The present owner has approached the Federal government and requested that as housing has been declare as industry, therefore, allow him for establishment of residential project on surplus land of the mill.

The mill’s owner assured in the application that the mill will be kept operational. The provincial government will decide the matter purely on merit keeping in view of the High Court’s decision, notification of Federal Government and in light of rules and regulations.
