Govt Committed to Sustainable Maritime Development with New Initiatives

Karachi: Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has emphasized the government’s dedication to securing a sustainable maritime future by aligning with global best practices through a blend of heritage and innovation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister made these remarks during the inauguration of Pakistan’s first Fishing Technology Museum in Karachi and the soft launch of the Mahi-Dost digital traceability app in Islamabad. The newly introduced app is designed to promote sustainable fisheries management and enhance the country’s export competitiveness.

The Minister highlighted that these initiatives are crucial for supporting informed policymaking aimed at addressing challenges such as overfishing and climate-related risks. He emphasized the dual role of the Fishing Technology Museum, describing it as more than just an exhibition space, but as a strategic asset that will contribute significantly to Pakistan’s blue economy.
