NDMA Sounds Alarm on Harsh Winter Cold Grip Tightens Across Northern Pakistan

Islamabad: The NDMA’s National Emergencies Operations Center has issued a warning regarding a severe cold wave affecting the northern regions of Pakistan and northern Balochistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the advisory highlights that harsh winter conditions are expected to persist across Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Potohar region. A significant increase in cold intensity is also predicted for northern Balochistan, particularly impacting areas such as Quetta, Ziarat, and Kalat.

The NDMA has raised concerns about the potential for severe weather to exacerbate respiratory ailments, urging citizens to take precautionary measures. Additionally, the advisory warns that the intense cold could harm standing crops, prompting farmers to implement protective measures to safeguard their produce.

Furthermore, the advisory cautions that the current weather conditions, along with the possibility of dense fog, may pose risks to commuters in plain areas. Travelers are advised to exercise caution, especially during morning journeys.
