Govt has no authority to postpone elections: Solangi

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says caretaker government has no authority to postpone the elections.

Speaking in a PTV programme, he said according to Article 218(3) of the Constitution, it is constitutional prerogative of the Election Commission to give or change the date of elections.

The Minister said, however, government will fully support to Election Commission of Pakistan to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

The Minister acknowledged that problems are there but these are not so grave to postpone the elections. The Minister said Secretary Election Commission is ill and this issue should not be politicized.

Murtaza Solangi said our security forces are capable enough to meet all security challenges.
