Govt to Expand Scope of Digital Wallets Across Country: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the efforts of all the stakeholders for the success of the Ramadan Relief Package. He was addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday to recognize the individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance in the success of the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package and the digital delivery of funds to the deserving people.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that payments under the scheme were made transparently while upholding the dignity of the deserving people. He highlighted the role of modern payment methods in facilitating money transfers, noting that the transfer of amounts through digital wallets was very easy and transparent.

Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that there were many shortcomings in the old payment system, which were addressed by adopting the modern system. Under the programme, seventy-nine percent of payments were made digitally. He announced that the government will expand the scope of digital wallets across the country, with provinces included in the process through an integrated system.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the collective team efforts that made the disbursement of payments possible and expressed a commitment to ensuring one hundred percent utilization of funds digitally next year. During the ceremony, he also awarded shields to officers of public and private sector organizations in recognition of their services for the Ramadan Relief Package.
