Govt’s Initiative for Women’s Role in National Development Highlighted by IT Minister

Islamabad: Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that the government is implementing comprehensive measures to ensure the maximum participation of women in national development, offering enhanced opportunities across multiple sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized during a ceremony in Islamabad that women make up nearly fifty percent of Pakistan’s population, and their inclusion is essential for sustainable economic growth. She highlighted that Pakistan is among the few countries where the IT Ministry is headed by a woman, which reflects the government’s dedication to women’s empowerment and leadership at high levels.

The Minister noted that Pakistani women possess substantial talent and consistently excel when given responsibilities. A special focus is being placed on empowering women in the IT sector through ongoing reforms and initiatives. Additionally, women are making significant strides in e-commerce, expanding their reach to global markets and creating new business and employment prospects.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that the government is actively working to eliminate obstacles to women’s development, particularly concentrating on integrating women from underprivileged regions into the mainstream economy. She highlighted the success stories of female entrepreneurs across different sectors as evidence that women can achieve excellence when provided with equal opportunities.

The Minister also mentioned that the Ramadan Package distribution via digital wallets has facilitated the financial inclusion of women while enhancing system transparency.
