Govt’s Reform Agenda Yields Positive Results in Energy Sector: Pervaiz

Islamabad: Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has announced that the government’s reform agenda, particularly within the power sector, is producing positive outcomes and revitalizing investor confidence in Pakistan’s energy landscape.

According to Radio Pakistan, while speaking to the media at the Pakistan Governance Forum-2026 in Islamabad, Malik emphasized that the government has implemented challenging yet essential measures to tackle structural inefficiencies, minimize losses, and manage circular debt effectively.

Malik highlighted that these reforms have led to a reduction in gas prices and alleviated the strain of cross-subsidies. Furthermore, he mentioned that circular debt in the gas sector has begun to decrease, with expectations for additional advancements in the coming months.

He expressed confidence that the ongoing reforms in both the power and petroleum sectors will enhance sustainability and contribute to long-term economic stability in the country.
