Green Corporate Initiative Drives Major Advances in Pakistan’s Agriculture Sector

Lahore: The Green Corporate Initiative (GCI) is driving significant advancements in Pakistan’s agriculture sector, transforming traditional farming methods into a more corporate-style approach, and enhancing agricultural productivity. The Special Investment Facilitation Council’s program is bolstering the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GCI’s efforts have notably improved the agricultural landscape across the country. The initiative has upgraded 150,000 acres of land in Punjab with modern irrigation systems, facilitating a substantial increase in crop yields.

A key component of the initiative is the provision of high-quality fertilizers and seeds to farmers, a strategy that has already shown promising results. This approach is part of a broader collaboration between the Punjab government and GCI, which aims to lead a green revolution and incorporate effective forest restoration measures.

Agriculture remains a vital pillar of Pakistan’s economy, contributing approximately 70 percent to the country’s GDP. The ongoing enhancements underscore the sector’s importance and the potential impact of innovative agricultural practices on the national economic landscape.
