Shehbaz and Maktoum Pledge to Enhance UAE-Pakistan Relations

Dubai: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, agreed to bolster bilateral relations between their countries during a meeting in Dubai. The discussions took place alongside the World Governments Summit 2025, which Sharif attended at Maktoum’s invitation.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the UAE. Both leaders expressed mutual appreciation, with Sharif acknowledging the UAE’s transformative role in global governance and Maktoum reaffirming the deep-rooted ties and cooperation between the two nations.

Sharif praised Dubai’s evolution as a business and innovation hub, attributing this to the UAE’s visionary leadership. He extended an invitation to Emirati investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, mining, and IT sectors, emphasizing Pakistan’s pro-investment policies.

In response, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted Dubai’s commitment to strengthening economic and cultural connections with Pakistan. He welcomed collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and climate resilience, and both leaders agreed to pursue high-level engagements to expand bilateral cooperation.

Sharif also reminisced about his time in the UAE during the 1970s, expressing gratitude for the UAE’s support for the Pakistani community. Maktoum lauded the Pakistani diaspora’s contributions to the UAE’s development.

The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Sharif congratulating Maktoum on the successful organization of the World Governments Summit 2025, noting its significance in enhancing the UAE’s diplomatic presence on the global stage.
